The type of custom orthotics that you may need will vary depending on the types of shoes/boots or sandals you wear as well as the needs of your unique feet. Custom orthotic construction differs slightly in the types of materials the shell or top covers are made of, as well as additions and modifications that need to be added based on the doctor’s examination findings.
For example, Sportflex orthotics have a thicker top coat than an everyday Casualflex orthotic. Poron fill can be added under the semi-rigid shell material to add shock absorption during sport and weight-bearing activities or when a person requires more cushioning if they work on their feet most of the day.
